My car is a 71 that I bought as a project about 2 1/2 years
ago now. I built my motor first and had it sitting on a stand, then I needed to
find it a home.
The motor is a .030 over 454 (460) with Speed Pro 2465
forged pistons. With my combination I have a 10 to 1 compression ratio. It

Well, GM
usually runs a few cars through the assembly line before the production run
starts, and these are called Pilot cars. I have no idea if they marked the
VIN tags or even kept them. Any knowledgeable folks know for
sure?

A friend of mine
has a prototype of the 63 split window Vette and the serial number is 55. The
trim paint codes are etched into the body plate by hand.

I
heard the same thing but never saw any "proof" of one. I'd sure like to
have a picture of that for my ChevelleStuff site. I have a photo of a 71
Chevelle (suppose to be #13 off the Van Nuys assembly plant) that has a single
"L" on the trim tag instead of the "BL" that it's

Sometimes pilot cars were used for extreme hot cold
weather testing and high altitude testing. Teams of engineers would drive
them on test runs to see if any modifications were needed before full production
was begun. When testing was done they were sometimes sold to GM
When I went to Hinshaws Chevelle they had steering wheels. I was I balling
one sitting on the counter and the owner said all he had to do was change
the center cap and it would be perfect for my 65.
I told said great but I am no where near ready to spend the money at this
point.
Hello I have a 68 chevelle, and I am having trouble getting the drivers side
front turn signal/running light to work.
The signal works fine, but the running light will not work. I have power to
the socket(one contact blinks with signal, other glows steady when lights are
on) when I plug in
WHEN I STARTED MY 69 PROJECT THERE WAS LETTERS PRINTED ON THE FIREWALL OF MY CAR IN WHITE CHALK OR MARKER, HOW DOES ONE GO ABOUT FINDING OUT WHAT THOSE LETTERS WHERE. I ACCIDENTLY FORGOT TO TAKE THAT INFO DOWN.
