Dan, I wanted to add my thoughts as I had several
things chromed over the years. You, pretty much, have
the price range. $200 or so per bumber is about right.
I used a company called Superior in Houston. They go
to the DFW swap meets. I also used a Harley shop
called Show-n-go chrome. You might
Dave,
I don't have a pic but I used the Lokar cable I picked up at
summit. You can trim it to length..of course I'm pretty sure I bought
a universal cable ..not specifically A-body.

it was my worst experence in chroming i have ever had!!!
they redid my bumper 3- times and kept adding more chrome plate to it each time- by the 3rd time it was coming off in sheets, i sent some small parts with the bumper to be done and they lost them all-
Walt,
How does the Lokar 'connect' or retain to the firewall? I understand the
cut-to-length of the cable and housing portion.
Looking at this GM cable I bought (I have no idea what application is it
for), it looks square-ish with some tabs on two sides to clip it into the
firewall. Very
Dave,
The factory cable clips on just as you have described(plastic
tabs). The Lokar street rod or universal cable uses 2 nuts on a
threaded portion of the cable to secure it to the firewall. Using
another trans analogy..similar to how you adjust your aftermarket
shifter cable..2 jamb
I'll check into the re-chroming. The price is not that bad, and my bumpers
are in good shape, but re-chroming would enhance the package!! Thanks!!

I'm trying to find some place in Houston, TX area. There are several places
that do industrial chrome, but I need to find one that doesn't mind doing
car bumpers on the side!
I found Allied Powder Coating in Houston for my 12 Bolt rear end..They did a
great job, with a 2 week turn around. Now, I
Can you recheck this site...I even erased the showdates.htm and it still

Hey all,
Ed just came up with a great idea, instead of me switching to 69 doors
on my 68 Chevelle I could get hold of some Buick or Oldsmobile power
vent window motors and parts.
Anyone out there having those parts for sale??

Had a '68 SS back in the early '80's and sold it to buy a (I'm sorry) 280z,
what can I say ...youth and stupidity(?). Not a day has gone by that I
haven't kicked myself for selling. It took this long to get back where I
belong.

Just in case anyone knows of this issue I just bought

Hey guys,
Quick question for anyone out there. Is there
any difference between a 69 2dr/ht big block frame and a small block frame? Ive
heard there are braces? Would they interfere with anything from my small block

I was told I could put a BB in my 69 with
the addition of some braces (I think they were bolt on) and beefier suspension.

Hello
Does anyone know how to dismantle a 1968 Chevelle
ignition switch. I didn't disassemble the dash, but have to put it back
together. If you know what I'm talking about then you know that it is surrounded
by a chrome plastic bezel that threads onto the switch housing. I won't go over
Some of the key tumblers you insert the key
, turn backwards (I think) and then put a push pin(cutting torch cleaners
work good)down the hole in the face beside the key and then it turns a
little further and pulls out
Digging through cob webs
Good luck

Bingo, thanks. I was close had the pin pushed in,
just needed to turn and pull. Cool my night is complete. Many thanks.
