Les,
The 12-17 is December 17. I don't think anybody has figured out the
schedule number yet though; I've never seen one more that two-digits long
(01..99) and most plants were making 400+ cars a day so logic would indicate
it's not a sequence number of cars that day or even shift. To me, so
Thanks for responding Dale. I see in box 10 it reads 62 12-17. If I
understand correctly 62 is the schedule number and 12-17(Dec 17?) is the approx
production date. What is the schedule number? Thanks, Les.

The build sheet does have a date on it, block #10, along with a schedule
number. I believe it's the date the order went in to build the car and not
necessarily the date it rolled off the line although, unless there were
problems, it'd be within a day or two at the most.
GM does have publishe
Is it possible to determine the build date or month of a 1970 Chevelle by
the vin# or build sheet? Thanks, Les 70 SS 396.

Well crap. So much for my U-joint theory.

I'd be more concerned about the 3-speed being able to hold up behind
the 402. The big blocks had a different, heavier-duty 3-speed manual
than the small blocks. I'd find a 4-speed if I were you.

I just sent an email re: "12 Bolt Yoke" I have a different question and
thought I'd better start a new thread.
When I got my '69 it had a 307 and a 3 spd on the floor. It seemed pretty

All this U bolt/ Straps information makes me think about my situation. My '69

Ryan, U bolts were stock.
Ryan,
I'm pretty sure the key is what driveshaft and U-joints you had/have. Every
1350 style U-joint I've ever seen used a U-bolt style yoke. Don't quote me
on this but it's my understanding that driveshafts on cars with TH400 & M22
trannys used the larger 1350 U-joints. My '70 El Camino S

Dale, I wasn't trying to mislead Ryan with a "blanket statement". In my
experience, I had never come across a 12 bolt that had straps. And I have come
across more than one or two. But I haven't worked on one with a TH400. Learn
something new everyday.
