Hmm, I wasn't able to use my original 307 mounts (engine and frame
mounts) on my 454.
That was in '99, and now I don't remember why. I remembered trying
every which way, and had the block in/out several times.
The 454 went right in with the 350/BBC mounts.
I do have the frame and engine
Correct. They may list separate part numbers, but the 307 mounts WILL bolt
on to a 454.

Tom,
Tom,
I have a 307 car running a 350. If I understand you correctly, the reason it
went in is because I used 307 motor mounts. If I use these same motor mounts I
will be able to install my 454 without changing the frame mounts.
If I go out and buy 454 motor mounts I will have fit issues.

You can use the 307 motor mounts on the 307 up, but for higher
horsepower/torque or especially racing applications, you should change the
frame mount. The 307 mounts do not have the metal safety latch. If they break
they seperate and the engine will rise up. Could be bad news.. Safety sez to
I wish it was that easy. It is a posi. The only way I can do that would be to
remove the clutch.

Quick education on 1970 engine mounts.
6 cylinder cars ar ein the arold of their own.
307 cars have taller frame stands and shorter engine mounts. If you have an
original 307 car, you will need to use 307 engine mounts for whatever you
decided to put in. 307 mounts will bolt on to and chevy V

You need to pull the center pin. Spin the internals around until you get the
spider gear you want at the opening. Slip in the washer and spin it back
around.

I changed from a 307 to a big block and just used 307 mounts on the
block. I believe theres a difference in how tall they are. I have'nt had
any problems with them. James

Eric, Congrats on getting back to the Chevelle world.
I'm not sure about truck mounts but it sounds like your XChevelle had a 307 in
it. They are different from other SBC and the BB's. I had a 307 and switched
to a BB. Had to get new frame mounts.
I'm sure others will chime in about the truck
The 307 mounts are different for some reason. I ran into the same thing. You
can change the pedestals on the fram, but I don't see why you couldn't just
use 307 Motor Mounts on your 454. I believe the block side is the same
between BB/SB. Maybe someone else could answer that one for sure.
On Dec 5
Ausleys and others show the engine mount (frame) as the same part number for
68-72 cars http://www.chevelle.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=57_125_223
and energy suspension shows the motor mounts the same for 454, 396, 350, but
differnet # for 307...
