Every hard starting SB Chevy I ever owned, had either a weak or bad fuel pump
which made it hard to start.
Yes pull the short bolt and stick longer bolt which will hold the fuel pump
push rod up.

Interesting but I can remember several low budget 57 with 265s also. I had
tons of Tri 5 cars when I was a kid . Also saw many 57 with 55-56 distributors
which did not have the window to adjust the points. I think they used parts
until they ran out.

Yes there was a short and long shaft TH350.This was done for long wheel base
cars and trucks like the C and K trucks, impala cars, etc so the driveshaft
wouldnt have to be quite as long

<~Agrees with Mike 100 %. You have to replace the crush sleeve unless you
put the pinion nut back on exactly as you took it off.Over tighten it and you
need a new sleeve. Been there done that.

What has been done to the motor? Rebuilt could mean a set of rings and
bearings. Unless he can provide papers I say its high.Is it a performance 454
or
just a late 70's smog motor? i can pickup 454 around here (Oregon- Washington)
for 1000-1500 all day.

I had MSD on my Blazer (big block-blah blah-blah) & and was cruisin down the
highway when it quit. Blew up my brand new exhaust system. Sure they fixed
the box under warranty but they didn't pay for the exhaust. Never did find out
why it quit and I sold the unit. IMO, I say beware of used el

If one had the room higher than the door , the door could be changed to a
roll up. I blew it when I put a second floor inside my 3 car -14 foot high
garage.Now I am stuck with 7 feet in two bays and 8'6 in the single bay.
Obviously that means no lift.

Does it want to turn over when you hookup the battery cable?
Either a cable touching the solenoid or a bad solenoid will do what you are
describing.
