Kyle There is no set width for the housing, it varies depending on the backspace of the wheels. There is no reason I can think of to have different width for 4 link over ladder bars,sometimes the bars mount under the frame and sometimes inside it but this only affects frame width not the axle

Here is more info on the rear end question: Thenarrowed rear clip for my 71 Chevelle has arear axle housingthat measures 34 inches flange to flange (not axle to axle). The frame rails measure 24" wide. I called the manufacturer of the clip and spoke to them (SW). They saidtheir weld
