Well I have a Z-16 convertible!
It's a 1/24th scale model. The interesting part is on the bottom it says:
1/24 1965 Chevelle SS396 Z-16 used under license
It's made of cast metal and the doors and hood open. Even the steering
wheel turns the wheels. It's got a Chevy orange 396 with a dual inlet
Rocky:
the articles and photos had to be from a hardtop. In all my searching I have never seen a Z16 convertible and none of the Z16 owners that I know have either.
Larry (z)
Semi knowing mark if there was one he would know about it. In fact mark has had for sale for the last 2 years a menagerie of Z16 parts with a 65 convert included. He also last summer sold a z16 rolling car to a friend of mines friend in Arizona. several of the Z16 owners do not want anyone to know

I've always heard the Z-16 number is 201 including the one ragtop. I met
a guy at the MCC/ACES NE Regional at North East, MD who owned 2 Z-16's and
he claimed the magic number is really 200 and the convertable doesn't exist.
By the way, he was driving a black Z-16
Good story Kent. Very enjoyable. I know at one time Mark Meekins was putting
together a Z-16 from many parts cars. I don't know if he ever finished but a lot Z-16
parts were all offered for sale by him some time ago. Wouldn't it be something if he
put the story together to legitimize the

The Z-16 conv. myth has been circulating for along time. I veiw it the same as Big
Foot. They my have fabed up one in the engineering/reaserch dept. just like they did
a 4 wheel drive El-Camino. but the only thing the 4X4 El-Camino saw was the big blue
torch
around anymore. Is that right and why? Thanks for any help,
Vernon

Maybe Mark's reply is coming with the next issue
In my opinion I find it hard to believe that one of the 200 production Z-16
Chevelles was a convertible For two reasons. One is because they were built
with very limited amount of variance in the options selection. Even the color
selection was limited. Two is they were built on a convertible
and why? Thanks for any help, Vernon

Wayne: I may have spoken to you also. There were 3 or four guys around
at the time. I don't want to sound critical and maybe I'm just too
sentimental but it hurt me to see the condition of that car
Dan:
I'm sure you are talking about bumper guards. These were an option on all 65 CHEVELLES. V31 ($19.95 / 15,200 made) was the number for the fronts and V32 ($9.70 / 11,037 made) for the backs.the V32 will also work on the back of the 64 chevelle.you can usually pick them up for about $175.00 a
this one goes right up there with the 50 dollar corvette everyone at one time could of bought. you know the one that the guy died in and the only way to get rid of the odor was to burn the car? right now i know where 4 z16s are that are being restored. if anyone wants to see some pics of one in
Dale:
I too have done extensive research and I know several z16 owners. Mark Meekins who is supposedly Mr. Z16 doesn't even know for sure.the 216 made is a new number to me and everywhere i have seen an article it has been 201. maybe this owner better do some more research or tell us where he got
Larry I just caught up on this little debate on the Z16s anyway you might be glad to know right now there is another Z16 getting ready for the resto knife. Irvin Patrick a guy that restores mostly Corvettes maybe some of you might know him, recently bought one out of Penn. He knows I love

Larry,
The first paragraph states if you wanted to make a
copy but no one knew where the original was, how would
you know what the finished product looks like? it says
he did it from articles and photos. car looks very
nice, the article was very short, only one column.

Phil. I also spoke to him at length. He has THREE Z-16 not two. and
drives
them taking turns as daily drivers, Store/work/shoping/ mall ect.
Flashy/65 came down
In regards to the possibility of a '65 Z-16 convertible
ever existing, I remember reading a letter that was sent in to the read
forumof one of the many magazines that I subscribe to. The letter
asked if there was ever a "...160 mph speedometer that was factory installed
in a '65 Chevelle ?

Howdy guys (and Larry Z in particular)
In the new issue of Super Chevy, on pages 152-153, there is an article on a 65 Z-16 clone. I thought everyone might want to check it out. This article also leaves me wondering about a couple things. First, were the brackets on the bumper a Z-16 only option,
