Does anyone have a picture or can tell me how the clip goes into the back of
the
instrument panel on a 1970 SS Chevelle? I've got the clip but no
instructions.
Thanks

I have a 67 El Camino that originally came with a Powerglide and the hole in
the firewall for the speedometer cable is just below the steering column.
Question #1.
I would recommend that you stop by a NAPA store and just buy a new one. I
haven't had any luck with lubricating old ones.

The speedometer cable on my 70 396 is squeeling. Would it help to apply dry graphite to cable and if so do you put it in behind speedo or where it enters trans housing? Thanks,Les.
Put it in the top. It will work its way down.

I forgot to mention to lubricate the cable itself by pulling out cable applying
proper speedometer lube to lower 2/3rds then reinstalling cable. gm66

What do you mean by beauty rings? Sorry I'm not up on that term...yet.
To me beauty rings are the chrome wheel rings.

Usually when a speedo cable starts to go bad you will get alot of needle
wave. The needle will flucuate as much as 15mph.
But yes they will squeal also...probably needs lubed ( use graphite
powder)
You can get it at about anywhere
doesn't work and I think
this is the problem.

I've been told that there is a plastic gear in the transmission, at least
on
manual, that sometimes goes bad. My speedometer doesn't work and I think
this is the problem.
