Filter do I use
I don't think it actually gives you any more oil at the top of
the motor because the additional oil you had to add is in the filter
A deep sump oil pan allows you to add more oil that is available for use
during a hard run (because it's common
I'm confused. If you add a 1/2 quart larger filter capacity, you can add a full quart
more oil to the system? Please explain.
Thanks
I have a 1969 SS 396. I need an oil filter and the book at the parts store
says to use a PH30 but that is the little short one. Does any one know the
number for the long oil filter that will fit my 396.
Thanks

As far as oil filters go for small block and big block Chevy's, the Fram PH 30 (1/2 QT)is the shortest, The PH 13 (1 Qt) is the standard long one and the PH373 is longest.(2 Qt version).
hope this clears it up

The standard filter for 68 to 72 (at least) is an AC Delco PF25, the longer
filter (1/2 qt more capacity) is an PF35 and the long filter with the
anti-drainback valve is PF1218. If you're using Fram, STP, Purolator, etc,
you'll have to x-ref those numbers.
The AC part nos. may have been
AC Delco number PF 1218 is the long one, that is the one I use. It superceeded number
PF 35.

I called ACDelco last week and was told they've replaced PF25 with PF454.
That would almost sound cool except it's the short filter!
I used the PF35 on my sixes for years,
