Hi Tom,
With either the TREMEC 5sp (3550/TKO) or the 6sp (T56s) you will definately

Mike,
What about clearance with the heater? I know on 66 the heater dumps out right on top of the tunnel...Im talking about when you move the tunnel up...
A 4.11 rear cog would work great with a Viper T56's
2.66 first gear. That same 4.11 rear cog would become a 2.055 final drive with
the T56's .50 sixth gear. That would equate to a 2,000 cruise rpm at
70mph.
Yeah,I know all this is kinda confusing but
it's as simple as matching a trans to yo
My tunnel top isn't welded but held on by quick-release fasteners. If the
new carpet is uncut for a shifter,it will fit fine.

Right now,I'm running a 3.50 rear cog in the Fab 9.
Sixth gear is pretty tall but useable and allows around 22mpg on the
highway.
However,I think a much better match for the T56
would be 4.11's or 4.30's. With 4.10's in your 12 bolt, you will see around 2K
rpm at 70mph (26" tal

You're
right. I ran the math and the 5 speed works out better. But my head is spinning
on all the variations of the 5 speed. Guess I got some comparing to

Clint I have a 66 also (chevelle).
I have been loking into 5 or 6 speeds for about 2 years now. I have probably talked to you before I'm quite certain.
I'm leaning toward the 5 or 6 speed richmond beacause of location of shifter for my 4 speed console and closer gear ratio than the TKO.

See if it has the dual piston master cylinder. I think it came out the 2nd half of 66 model year as a safety backup.
I like the 400 ci smallblock personally.
