Thanks to all for your coolant overflow info. For now I am using an after
market bottle and cap. I would like to see something that doesn't stand out
and that's a little smaller, but for now, this one seems fine.
Thanks again,

Just remember that a coolant recovery system is different than a simple
overflow can. The coolant recovery system requires a different radiator cap
and overflowed coolant generally runs into the BOTTOM of the recovery
canister. Coolant is added to the canister and not the radiator when

I took one of my kids "bubble bottles" (1.5" X 4"), painted it black and
rested it in the lower corner in between the radiator frame. The overflow
tube that clips and runs down the full length of the radiator sticks inside
the bottles and keeps it in place. You don't even see it unless your

If you want something a little more spiffy, the street rod industry has some
nice overflow cans out there.

I did something very similiar with my '69, except that I mounted it up
and inside the right front fender. It's mostly hidden from view,
and is a pretty clean solution. I could provide pics, and I
got a similar plastic tank at AutoZone for about $8.

Like Tom said, this didn't come on any Chevelle. You can pick up a
kit like this at any of the parts stores for less than the one at
Hinshaw's. I got mine at AutoZone and m
OK, answer to question 1. No Chevelles ever came with an overflow system
Question 2: You can add that one if you like. Some guys simply add an
aluminum canister to the side of the radiator. It all depends on what you want it
to look like when done.

Under the heading "chevelle" on ebay I have seen several G.M. parts manuals
with numbers for various years. They go for 10 to 20 dollars and are
reproductions of the original manuals so they should be accurate. I have
also seen assembly manuals from actual production line use.

Chevelles did not come with one, however, you can add one too it that looks
factory. I have the part numbers and pictures at home for it. I will dig them
up when I get home. I got all the parts to put it on my 70, just have not
done it yet. You can get all the parts from any local Chevy deal
