BGP - Internet Routing Architectures, Second Edition

2000-09-19 Thread John Deatherage
Group... I was asking a lot of BGP questions on here until I bought this book Internet Routing Architectures (Cisco Press: ISBN1-57870-233-X, by Sam Halabi) - the second edition just came out, and it is one of the best Cisco press books I have read, if not the best. It really tackles the complex

RTP port numbers

2000-09-26 Thread John Deatherage
Cisco recommends using: ip rtp 16384 16383 bandwidth for RTP. Out of the range 16384-32767 that VoIP uses, how does it use the port numbers? What ports are used for fax? I have looked on Cisco's website and I have not been able to find any good information on this. Also, these are UDP ports.

OSPF Router ID/Loopback interface

2000-10-18 Thread John Deatherage

Re: VOIP Troubles

2000-11-10 Thread John Deatherage
Some things that might help:   1. Are you using CODEC like G.729 that works at an 8Kbps bit rate?  If not, you'll be hating life. 2. Bandwidth at full rate & Multilink PPP (MLPPP) or FRF.12 will still be 17.2kbps. 3. You need QoS, even if you can burst to port speed at 56kbps. 4. Consider LLQ
