Thanks, Brian, for the sound advice. I've just finished Semester 4 (though
I got my CCNA a couple of months ago) and look forward to Sem. 5. As I've
stated before, I'm going the Academy route for cost reasons, hands-on with
an extensive lab but also to benefit from the interaction between other
developing between us. I am sure it will return my affection.:)

Hmmm, Jeff, sorry to hear you're disappointment. I won't be able to make a
judgement yet myself; sounds like you have much more Unix experience than I
do (which is mainly shell scripting and basic user administration). From
what I've seen it's extremely basic but it'll be useful for students

Hamid,
Don't know if you've already seen this, but check out

From what I see on this page, it would appear that a FastEthernet port is
required for interVLAN routing.
BTW, group, I noticed in the configuration section of this page that
goes
into forwarding mode. If a loop did exist the link would transition to
blocking.

I'm not sure what you mean when you state that if done that with a PC the
interface would not work...Let's take it to mean that you would try to ping
an address assigned to PC's network interface. Depends on what the
interface is comprised of. E.g, Windows 9x, NT and 2k and Linux (hey,

Interesting. Why would it generate network numbers, though? Shouldn't
network numbers be manually configured?

David, try this URL

It's the Novell SAP service list. Pretty comprehensive but may not include
some stuff written for NetWare 5 (which usually runs native IP anyway but
can also has an IPX compatibility mode that may put out SAPs).

The addresses you're seeing are generated automatically. What's happening
here is that the new server has every single Ethernet frame type loaded, and
as a result is using different

No, no eval available, but there are pretty good screen shots on the Web
site, yeah, not the same, I know.
My only experience with RouterSim has been with v3, so I can't compare
between 2 and 3. However, I found it very useful in studying for the CCNA
