aah, wait, maybe that webpage was specific to the 5000-series only. . . and
I thought the CCO search was Google-powered. . .
So do you like these 6x00's? They're higher-end backbone units, right?

Hey folks, 6000 and 6500 switches are IOS based and do MLS, right? Cisco's
website says so, but they they say something confusing on their Configuring
IP MLS webpage under "hardware requirements":

and make it soun
Hey Brian, reading your post now. How'd it go? (not asking you to violate
NDA, of course) I am taking 640-604 in a coupla weeks. Having to memorize a
lot because I don't have a lot of lab equipment. Bought the routersim Switch
Sim, which was ok.
How do you like the Transcender s/w?

Isn't this just asking to do standard overloading onto a single global IP?

Hello all. In the below quote from CCO, is Cisco contradicting themselves in
the 2nd paragraph regarding each transport-layer session being a different
flow? Or do they mean that IF only the destination IP is used to ID a flow,
THEN all diff transport-layer sessions are the same flow?
Thanks!

Does anybody have a review? Or recommend a similar product?
Thanks everybody, -Sean.

That's what I thought.
Here's what I got from Boson:

Routers are not in areas, router interfaces are. Thus, the router
terminating the virtual link in your diagram has an interface in the
stub area and an interface in area 7 (a non-stub area). There is no

I think it's a good point by Howard about physical equipment being a mental
crutch. I have a fair amount of stuff and am realizing that for CCIE I'll
need to become one with the vty.

EIGRP question:
According to Cisco's website: "Feasible distance is the best metric along a
path to a destination network, including the metric to the neighbor
advertising that path. A feasible successor is a path whose reported
distance is less than the feasible distance."
But wouldn't a route
What are people's opinions on the toughest CCNP test? I'm almost two along,
set for BCMSN and CIT next. How does CCDP compare?
Obviously depends on one's area of experience. . . still, I'd be interested
to know your opinions.
Cheers, -Sean.

Loved Boson for BCRAN. I got 88% on the test myself, which I was satisfied
with. I bought the first and second tests.
Currently using two tests for the BCSN exam and although there have been
some mistakes in the questions, I received email responses from the author
very promptly. Taking the test
Quick question, hope it's not too trivial:
When a router decides to forward a packet based on the longest match
principle, does this supersede other factors?
For example, if there is a route to network A via EIGRP, but a more specific
route available via OSPF, does it choose OSPF because of long

This may be too basic, but I know that a bad cable can sometimes give an
erroneous link light. If pins 1 & 2 are good but 3 & 6 not, it will give you
a link light but you won't be able to receive data. . . ??

Studying for Routing exam, I'm confused about OSPF NBMA configuration. What
is the difference between putting a "broadcast" command for frame relay:
(config-if)#frame-relay map ip 10.10.10.10 101 broadcast
and OSPF, ala
(config-if)#ip ospf network broadcast
?
Any help would be appreciated. Th
>From McGraw-Hill's BCRAN book, you can make a router with 2+ serial ports a
mock x25 switch. Haven't done it myself yet, but here's the gist from the

1. enable x25 routing:
router(config)#x25 routing
2. make the router perform line clocking:
router(config-if)encap x25 dce

Hello everyone, it's been a while, good to be on the list again.
Studying for my BCRAN, and have quick question for you. My lab for testing
DDR is working. . . almost. When I try to ping or telnet from a PC to a
terminal server, going across the ISDN DDR link:
1. the ISDN line comes up, connects
Right, the problem is not that it won't come up. The problem is that it DOES
come up intermittently for no apparent reason (apparent to me at least)!
I removed the access list entries and shortened the idle-timeout
intentionally in an attempt to figure out why it's still dialing
intermittently.
Howdy there folks, question for you. Studying for the BCRAN, I have a lab
with two 1602R's with BRI modules. I am simulating a FR connection with BRI
configured for backup in legacy dialer-string mode.
The backup works fine; ie. I pull the FR cable and the backup comes up, I

I am currently using the McGraw Hill BCRAN book and LOVE it. I used the CCNA
Cisco Press book and got so frustrated I bought the Exam Cram CCNA book.
I found the CCNA book to be too verbose and confusing. But I really
recommend the McGraw Hill stuff. Really nice layout and fun to read.
