bridge-group protocol ieee uses the 802.1d Spanning tree standard. DEC was the original and is slightly different then IEEE. Similar for IBM. Use IEEE unless your connecting to a legacy device that uses DEC or IBM and doesn't conform to the IEEE 802.1d standard. There's more on t

Yes, bridge-group are equivalent to vlans and bridge-group protocol ieee refers to the spannin tree version in used it could be dec or something else. Between these 2 switches Are you using trunking (dot1q) or it is just 1 vlan in the whole network?. If you are using trunking, check that the
