Ruihai, If you do not specify the keyword 'create' with the set span command and you have only one session, the session will be overwritten. If a matching destination port exists, the particular session will be overwritten (with or without specifying create). If you specify the keyword 'create'

We need at least two SPAN ports on each 6505 switch to connect our IDS and Sniffer. When we config the second SPAN, it always overwrite the prevously configured SPAN port. It seems you can not configure more than more than two SPAN on one switch. I am not sure if that is true. Thanks Ruihai
