The BGP process does receive the updates. It also has its own version of the
RIB.
The IP RIB Update process handles the 'installed routes' and pushes things out
to the CEF.

Correct - it was specifically ear marked for CGN, so as not to conflict
with your customer's own use of RFC1918. It

there was a brief period around SXF4 to SXF11 or so where it worked on
hw 3.0 cards. Other than that, it was disabled in software.

Hi,
I have a gig ethernet port I want to accept untagged frames on, and
push two vlans on for forwarding thru mpls. Of course, I also want to
remove these tags and make the frames untagged when exiting the ethernet
port. I am failing to see how to specify this, does anyone have a quick
My understanding is that on the 6500/7600 series the IP RIB Update process also
contains the prebuilt FIB to be pushed into CEF.
I may be wrong on that but I don't think so. BGP-SD definitely does not push
the routes into the IP RIB Update process.

BGP-SD won't reduce the RIB memory tax, but it will certainly
If BGP is holding that much memory I would verify 'soft-reconfiguration
inbound' is not configured.
It stores the update messages and is not efficient at deleting them.
Then do a 'clear ip bgp *' to restart the process.
A reboot may be in order.
You may also want to put in Selective Route
Is the lack of DOM on 67xx series 7600 cards still a thing?
Are we up Dom Schitt’s creek unless we use SIP/SPA/ES+ cards, or is there
anything else that works?
