Looks like I'm in 'the same boat', stated sailing by racing on an old Olympic
class wooden boat at the same time. Came from soaring (sail plane) when I
moved to the sea shore. Here in the US I had a C from 78-92; did not
consider anything else than C when upgrading. Moved the 25 from
I'm the second owner of a 1983 C Since 1992, and plan to keep it.

Don Kern put together a great list of C owners which unfortunately I can no

manufacture. She was somewhat disguised by the prior owner. She came red from
Yes, that is a sister ship. There was also one in Chicago (Fury) for sale a
couple years ago. An owner of one of the boats, Valadare (somewhere in New
England), reached out to me a while back. He had tracked down all of them,
which include his boat, my boat, Fury, and three Canadian boats:

I just got back from a four-day voyage San Diego to Catalina, and saw two C
out there - 34s or 37s I think. One was slipped in the marina at Harbor
Island. The other was moored at the isthmus of Catalina. I talked to the guy
at the isthmus and he said he’s not on the list but should be.

Thanks, Don. Additions to my entry:
Our boat is a "C 42 Custom." As it was explained to me, the word "Custom"
means that it was built in the "custom shop," which was not the main C
facility in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Also, it was not a "production run" boat,
and only a few were made. I was

I routed the 2-inch exhaust hose to exit on the forward outboard section of the

splashing into the hose. I mounted the fan around the corner from the vent

You might be surprised about winter solar performance. I'm in BC, and my
