My boat is in the water all winter so I don’t put too much stuff on, but I do use small tarps over the hatches with the yoga mat too over the forward hatch. Since those hatches are closing in on 50 years old, I figure the less rain gets in the crevices and freezes the better! I swapped out my an

Just one note about the CLR product - although it does not contain bleach, as with most chemicals, you should use gloves. It contains Potassium Hydroxide which is a skin irritant, and is also harmful to stainless steel, so use with care. If in doubt wear gloves and eye protection, or check the MSDS

I forgot this thread was initially about engine condensation. For a gas engine, I would fog it for sure, we always did with inboard or outboards. With a diesel, turning it over occasionally should be more than sufficient. If you do want to fog your diesel, do NOT use the starter, as it may ignite t

I've heard numerous people suggest that the engine "could" ignite on fogging oil. I have not been able to find a substantiating source for this concern. In my particular case I used Amsoil synthetic fogging oil which may have a higher flash point than others. Besides, what if the engine did star

With all this info, I have been digging into some of this, and have read a few instances of the engine taking off in the fogging oil on Cruisers Forum and whatnot. Having had a gas as well as diesel take off on me, it makes me nervous. Not enough to not do it, but if I did, I would do it with t

The way the Amsoil fogging oil instructions read is to run the engine and while running spray the oil into the intake until it dies. Then remove spark plugs or glow plugs to spritz the cylinders. Once spritzed you roll the engine with the starter or pull cord to spread the oil and push out the ex
