I had a closer look today using a mirror on a stick through the port in the
back of the quarter berth and it appears that it was designed to be a locker
but a hole was never cut in the top of the port side corner seat. The
"lid" seems to be glued onto the top of the seat with Sikaflex or similar
My 1981 C 34 has a propane locker on the starboard side of the helm seat.
The locker has a hinged lid. On the port side of the helm seat there is a
similar seat but the "lid" does not open. Has anyone opened this up and
utilized the space for storage?

Maybe if the swaged threaded rod was not corroded in the hole, it is possible
that there could be some movement of the rod when it is not under tension i.e.
the wheel is turned in the opposite direction. The movement in the hole could
possibly damage the threads making adjustment difficult?

We have a 1981 C and want to do an inspection of the chain within the
binnacle that connects to the steering cable. To do this the cable must be
disconnected from the quadrant in order to pull the chain up through the
binnacle once the compass is removed. Once out I intend to inspect the links

Does anyone know of a source for Hillerange parts other than Sure Marine in
Seattle? The oven will light but goes out after a few minutes even with
the thermostat at 500. It will go out even quicker with the thermostat
turned down, so I expect it is the regulator. Any suggestions would be
