Here in Ontario, none of the clubs I have been at, including a Marina have
mentioned anything about power washing. Run off goes on the gravel. Done to all
the boats on haul out, either by owner, by the club or hired

wash bottoms as they come out of the water.
As you said, the logic applies in a chequered pattern.

Mike,
What do you do about the wet sanding run off?
In the US [at least in my state] ANY paint whether dry or wet sanded, must be
o dry sand the bottom prior to
applying new paint.

I always found that pressure washing sufficed, especially if the operator was
attentive, and any remaining bits easily wiped off in the spring with a
scotchbrite pad. I had our C&C 27 MKIII in Chicago for 15 years with VC17, and
gave it a fresh coat every year.
YMMV,

We have the bottom cleaned when the boat's hauled fornthe season. I never know
exactly when it'll be hauled until I getbthe email. Bybthe time I hear, the
boat's been out ofne water for a day or two. By the time I get to see the boat,
anything on the bottom is dried out. So, I pay the $4/foot.
