I finished up my trip to Southeast Colorado today, and I think that the
most interesting observation that I can come up with is that the timing
of migration 150-200 miles to the south and east of the front range
wasn't too much different than up here. For instance, I looked at

Dear Cobirders,
After attending Christian's excellent DFO Doudy Draw walk this
morning, one that was full of first-of-the-season birds, I headed out
to Pella Crossing to look for the Northern Parula found yesterday
(4/25) by Bob Zilly. I was initially hesitant to chase this bird

Hi Birders,
My mom just called to tell me she saw a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER on 17th hole
of the Cougar Canyon Gplf Course. There was also a ladder-backed woodpecker.
Good luck to anyone who chases it.

My wife and I saw a broad-winged hawk today at 12:30 p.m. above the
gravel pond with an observation platform just northwest of the Audubon
Society parking lot (just off Wadsworth and the road to Waterton
Canyon). Nice looks at the bird with a red-tailed hawk circling above
it. We worked our way
While not too exciting by themselves, there was a mixed flock of
swallows including bank, barn, cliff, violet-green, and tree in a,
well, tree on the path on the west side of the lake. There was also a
spotted towhee in the bushes outside Champp's next to the path -
pretty unusual as far as I kno

My first post since moving to Colorado from Wyoming last August.
At Stagecoach Reservoir today I had three White-faced Ibis and one Glossy
Ibis.[the Glossy was very rare in Wyoming but I see from posts this spring that
they seem to stop over in Colorado more frequently and you have a lot more
I was at Prince Lake #2 late morning today and located the glossy ibis among
about 20 white-faced ibises. The ibises were feeding both at the wetland and
in the enclosed lake. There was also a marbled godwit at the west end of the
lake.

The nasty west wind severely reduced the number of birds present
around the lake today. The avocets, white-faced ibis and one Marbled

Thanks to Gary Lefko we drove to Crom Lake. One advantage fewer cars and close

prairie to see Vesper Sparrows and heard Grasshoppper Sparrows.
