I was a bit surprised to find a basic plumaged DUNLIN late this afternoon,
along the Arkansas River, below Pueblo Reservoir dam. It was hanging around a
couple of Killdeer. Hopefully it will stick around for next Saturday's Pueblo

Co Birders: While walking along Clear Creek during the late morning
Thursday, and enjoying the hundred or so Mallards split up into small groups
all up and down the river (and our first temperatures up somewhere above 0)
a Bald Eagle flew along the river heading west. Also hundreds of Canada
Geese
I'm not sure, given their burgeoning expansion lately, what their
current ranges are defined as, but it seemed awfully cold to be seeing
doves. I don't believe I've seen them winter around here as yet. The
Mourning Doves, of course, have been gone since pretty much

Scott Severs has alerted us to the possibility that the Palm Warbler
seen 10 days or so ago in Boulder may still be around having possibly
been seen at the Wild Bird Center in Boulder on Tuesday. This is
consistent with a strong feeling from years of Colorado CBCs that
warbler numbers and variety

I did a quick look at Big Johnson Resv at noon, since I was already at
the COS airport. Lake is 99% iced over, with a small area open near
the trees on the N shore. There were some waterfowl there, and a few
flying in, but into an area smaller than a football field.
Observed
Steve Frye reports seeing a "yellow" Palm Warbler at the heated
birdbath at the Wild Bird Center-Boulder, this past Tuesday 12/8. It
only stuck around momentarily and has not been seen since.
This reemphasizes the fact of the Boulder Creek corridor hosting an
old warbler every few years or so, so
