At 7 PM on 4/27 a white-winged dove sat on my feeder for a few minutes.
Location: near Orchard and Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Arapahoe County. New
yard and county bird for me.
With the increasing reports of this species from the front range in the past

I stopped by Clover Basin Res. after work yesterday and the water is still
being drained. There were two American Avocet , a Greater Yellowlegs , and
three dowitchers. Two were Long-billed Dowitcher and one I couldn't determine.
Also three Green-winged Teal , a pair of Mallards and a pair of
Over the past 2 years (prior to the last 6 months), I have observed and
documented a successful breeding of a mountain X black-capped pair in Ute
Valley Park (Colorado Springs, El Paso Co, I-25 and Rockrimmon). Their many
offspring show various gradations between the two species. The family
Van Truan called, he had a Yellow-throated Warbler at an abandoned farm this
morning, at Roads 33 L, which is south of Eads in Kiowa County.

An (the) Eastern Phoebe was at the diversion dam this morning calling beautifully. Hadn't seen it for several days since the pair of Barn Swallows returned there.

Slow again. Not much was seen, heard nor caught before the wind hit in force
about 11:00. Heard several Audubon's Warblers overhead (banded one), and a
flock of Cedar Waxwings (caught one male), but not much else in the grove.
Hoping the cold front tonight makes a difference.

foothills trails are still very muddy, and require indifference to shoe
appearance.
Today I hiked the Picture Rock Trail south of Lyons (on Heil Ranch). Almost

Nashville Warbler (1 adult male, I think a western race based on the grayish
back and frequent tail-flicking, which makes it a different individual than the
other two I've seen down here of late).
Oriole (heard) - presumably it was a Bullock's, my FOS oriole, but when
I stopped again today after work to check the shoreline at Clover Basin Res. A
lot of new arrivals today:
