Thanks for Ted's thorough info on Cranes in San Luis Valley. On March 31
and the morning April 1, Mary and I saw the immense gathering of SANDHILL
CRANES feeding at the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge. Drive south
on State Road 15 from town-center in Monte Vista about 6

This morning, I headed to the Higbee area south of La Junta. One of the
blocks I am doing for the Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas II project is the
southeast section of the Higbee 7.5 minute topographic map. While

Excellent flying day here early. Warm, sunny and calm, accompanied by much

About 9 a.m. this morning along the Gem Lake Trail in Rocky Mountain
National Park, about a mile from the Lumpy Ridge trailhead, I heard, then

overgrazed short grass prairie just south of J Rd about 200 yards east of
