As Joe Roller mentioned both the Red-throated Loon and the 3
juvenile /female type Surf Scoters were visible from either the west or east
side
of Cherry Creek SP until I left at 3:30 PM this afternoon. I had quite
good looks at the RTLO and to my eyes looked to be close
Many thanks to Glenn Walbek for finding the Red-throated Loon and
the three Surf Scoters this morning at Cherry Creek Reservoir!
Larry Modesitt and I saw the loon despite the wind and waves at
about 1-1:30 PM. John Drummond is looking at them now (2:40 PM) in 40 mph
winds and suggests that one she
Folks,
The Red-throated Loon was closest to the lake loop point. A better look from
the south shore makes me think the bird is in a transitional plumage. It shows
a solid dark back and no white on the gray head, face and neck. There is a
remnant red patch on the throat. The 3 Surf Scoters a
COBirders,

Just got back from seeing the Long-tailed Jaeger close to shore from the State
Wildlife Area on NW Side of Pueblo Reservoir, from middle of the three parking
areas, that look west. With the cold front and wind coming in the next couple
of days, who knows if the bird will be there for m
