I was able to see the Hermit Warbler Tuesday morning with several fortunate
birders. I'm guessing this bird is a first fall male due to the streaking on
the sides and the speckling of black on the throat and crown. I have limited
experience with these birds and welcome the opinions of others.
Not that it is terribly significant, but in addition to the birds cited by Nick
at Last Chance, we also had a few Lincoln Sparrows, a couple Townsend's
Solitaires and a brief flyover of what we are fairly sure was a dark-morph
juvenile Red-tailed Hawk. It was pretty whatever it was.

Today walking to my car to go to school I heard a warbler chip in the parking
lot while searching for it a Cassin's/Blue-headed Vireo jumped into my view.
Although not as bright as BHVI I have seen in the past the birds head

Urling watched a Pinyon Jay above our house for about an hour this morning.
We hope it's a scout with a troop of them to follow. One year a flock of Pinyon
Jays haunted our hillside for a month or two -- probably 10 years ago.
Six crane flocks flew over our house today ( heard but not seen]
80 cranes landed at the north end of the reservoir at 5:20 PM Thursday.

In the past hour we have had 5 groups of Sandhill cranes fly over our part of
Colo Spgs. The smallest group was about 75 cranes, while the largest totaled
over 100 birds.
I think I just heard another group - so it's back to the patio for me.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Hermit Thrushes, White-crowned
