please!
Where are the best feeders for Rosy-finches?
We plan to visit Allenspark and Estes Park having read of good feeders in both
towns, however, there is rarely an actual location for these
Hi all,
I believe there is a Mexican Duck at the Pueblo City Park pond this morning.
I'll put some photos of it, on my flickr site, in a bit. Other highlights in
Pueblo City Park this morning were: a female Williamson's Sapsucker (perhaps
the bird that was around in the winter), 20+
Had a long-billed curlew along Hanover Road this morning on my way to Chico
Basin Ranch. The bird was in a distant field with a large group of gulls and
geese about 2.5 miles from Old Pueblo Road. The field was to the northeast of
the road. Chico had my first barn swallow of the year. There

Hello birders,
I would like to get a Mexican Duck sighting under my belt, a new lifer if
the AOU ever splits it from Northern Mallard. I noticed a dark Mallard on
the shore of the South Platte River in Denver yesterday afternoon, from the
South Platte River Trail east of York Street.
A good place to see newly arrived Black-necked Stilts, other shorebirds and
waterfowl
is the farm pond owned by a Mr. Stewart, near Highway 85, south of the town
of LaSalle
and southwest of Lower Latham Reservoir. From Denver, go Northeast on 85,
past Brighton
and Gilcrest, then turn right on Weld
Heard the first Broad-tailed Hummingbird while birding Harriman Lake this
morning, about 10:30 am.
Also, there has been a strange duck (south western portion of the lake) for
the past couple of weeks. Today it was hanging out with a pair of
Mallards. It is Mallard-like,but a little larger,
About one hour ago in the yard I heard a male Broad-tailed Hummingbird zip
by! Better get my feeders out and clean them.
Two Mourning Doves also FOS today.

Good afternoon- I was curious to know if anyone has visited any of the
historical STG leks around Hayden this spring, and if any have birds
strutting. If you have information, please reply off-list.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Most of you are aware that the famous migrant trap, the Last Chance Oasis,
suffered from the June 2012 wildfire. Last November birders joined local
folks and held a clean-up day
there to show our appreciation for the generous and open access we have
enjoyed for decades
David Chartier called at 3:18pm, the adult alternate plumaged LITTLE GULL is
still present, and was seen from the North Side of Lake Meredith in Crowley
County, take County Road 21 south to the lake from Hwy 96, east of Ordway, and
then head as far east as you can along the shore. The bird was

COBirders,
Today I went birding with my parents around Lincoln county. As expected,
waterfowl were in good numbers at a few locations. The only noteworthy of the
bunch were two GREATER SCAUP and two RED-BREASTED MERGANSERs at a private
ranch. Also on the same private ranch we found a silent
My wife (Lora), brother (Greg) and I birder the Bear Creek riparian corridor
(Jefferson County) from just west of C-470 to Bear Creek Lake on Saturday
morning. We saw about 25 species including two male Northern Flickers fanning
their tails to impress a nearby female, a Cooper's Hawk pair
A special thanks to Joe for organizing the clean up efforts at Last Chance! Woo
