Hi All,
I have several hundred rosy finches in my yard now. If anyone needs to
see them, your welcome to come over. I will be at work so your welcome
to come and walk around the house to see the birds. I would recommend
coming in the morning due to the large number of birds, the seed will
Lisa and I did a morning trip to the Monte Refuge and Home Lake. Most ducks are
in with Canvasback, Bufflehead and Lesser Scaup around. The Yellow-headed
Blackbirds (or Black-bodied Yellow Birds as a friend used to say) are in with
Marsh Wrens now singing in the cattails. Most wetlands have
Hi cobirders. No Tuesday birders. A snow day. So slept in and at
9AM from my bed I can see out the window the 50 year old Juniper with
its tangle of heavy limbs
with its canopy of snow cover. The roof keeps the canopy away so I

We're trying to decide whether to get an Android or an IPhone. All our birding
friends seem to use the IPhone birding apps with great success. However our
provider (Credo) doesn't provide service for IPhone, only the Androids. So, if
we choose IPhone, we'll have to switch providers. Does anyone

Hello birders,
Some folks have asked me how to create a map link to show where they saw a
bird, like this map link: http://goo.gl/maps/EPZtd. Ted Floyd and others

Anyone can do this, and once you get the hang of it,
The Kansas Ornithological Society (KOS) has a fairly narrow window of
time in which you can order their new t-shirt design featuring original

Hello birders,
For this year’s CFO Cortez convention our president, Jim Beatty of Durango,
created 19 field trips based on his advanced birding in southeast Colorado
over many years. Bill Kaempfer also contributed to this planning. For these
great field trips, big thanks to Jim and Bill!
While birding Walden Ponds yesterday, I took a photo of a bird (woodpecker?
sapsucker?) that I am unable to identify. I would appreciate an ID from a
more experienced birder.
Thanks,
Russ Thompson

Enjoy- Bill
This evening 7:24 PM stopped by Bear Creek Lake Park, Jefferson Co (my
home water to borrow a flyfishing term). All was lovely and quiet (well
except for C 470 nearby). The western-most Great Horned Owl was hunkered
down in her nest - about 3 of snow on the rim. The only indication of
