At Larhrop State Park this morning my birding buddy Scooter and I saw a lone
Greater White-fronted Goose by the boat launch on Martin Lake!

Yesterday I had my museum group on an outing to Jackson SP/Res., which I rather
expected would be rather dull. Not so much! On our way into the park, we got
off to a great start with a lot of the usual suspects (meadowlarks, horned
larks, but no longspurs) plus a nice male harrier and a prairie

I found and photographed a Least Bittern today near John Martin
Reservoir in Bent County. I hesitate to post directions, because of the
likelihood of birders disrupting the bird. I used my car as a blind, and
the bird was more or less oblivious to my presence, catching minnows,

Yesterday (Thurs) I drove out east of Pueblo to look for Harlan's
Red-tailed Hawks and any other raptors that might be around. I was
rewarded with 3 Harlan's, 1 Merlin and 1 Prairie Falcon in addition to 7
Western Red-tailed Hawks, 1 other hawk species and a number of American
