I walked all of the Valco Ponds side of the River this morning, below
Pueblo Reservoir dam (Pueblo County). The best migrant was a Northern
Waterthrush, it was close to the Arkansas River, just east of the two Fish

Never been attacked by a grouse, but I have been kicked in the hip by a well
known aggressive turkey in a Sacramento park. "Fearless Fred" was eventually
relocated.
Also was chased by a turkey in Arizona and forced to jump a stream to get away.
Both incidences were right around Easter.

A nice find on the way to Rabbit Mt. was a perched Broad winged Hawk in

I decided to break my binoculars yesterday, right before the Scarlet Tanager
was reported at Lee Martinez Park in Larimer County. Drove up there today,

One time on the road between Aspen and the Maroon Bells a male Dusky Grouse
ran towards my car on the road, jumped on the hood and stared at us through
the windshield. I opened the door to get a photo and he hopped off of the
hood, onto the ground and next thing I knew he was up on my leg and
Lifer! I heard and saw an American Bittern at Sawhill Ponds this
afternoon. First I heard the gulping and then I saw the bird standing on a
little hillock. When you park at Cottonwood Marsh it was at the 2nd pond
on the left as you walk past the sign for Sawhill Ponds.

The story of the first 4 days of banding at Chatfield is about
Yellow-rumped Warblers. So far, almost half of the birds caught have been
Yellow-rumpeds - 24 Myrtles, 25 Audubons, and 4 Intergrades for a total of

Sorry for the late post. This morning, I was greeted with a birdy Bear Creek
