For the record, with these several Vermilion Flycatchers reported this spring
along or east of the front range, another (the fourth?) was seen in the
foothills on May 2 by some friends who live on a small ranch on the South
Platte River, roughly 11-12 miles SW of Roxborough St Pk "as the crow

This afternoon around 2 pm there was a yellow-billed cuckoo at Confluence

Co birders,
I have had Crossbills since 4/30, flying over my house, sometimes in separate
flocks of 4-6. But on 5/22 I counted 22 individuals in 1 flock flying over my
house, which surprised me. There are a lot of conifers in my neighborhood.
In the last week I have had 3, Green-tailed
Van Truan and I did a Pueblo County Big Day yesterday, to help with the
annual county wide Pueblo County Spring Bird Count, that Dave Silverman
compiles every spring.
Van and I ended with 164 species of birds in Pueblo County yesterday.

HI Everyone!
My wife Lynda and I were walking in Belmar Park this afternoon when we
spotted a Blackpoll Warbler near the area where the Vermilion flycatcher
was found last year. We also had Brewer's sparrows and one Clay-colored
sparrow. We found the Chestnut-sided Warbler near the bridges
Got to the station for ASGD's annual Mother's Day event to find nets very
wet from the rain the night before and no chance of drying in the foggy,
early morning air. We definitely needed a plan B! My great band of
volunteers and I packed up stuff and hauled it to the Nature Center
feeders,
No crossbills for me, but upon returning from an uneventful morning of
local birding, I found my Centennial (Arapahoe) yard overrun by American
Goldfinches and Pine Siskins. They were eventually joined by a flock of
Chipping Sparrows with two Clay-colored Sparrows in tow, a Western Tanager,

Over the years I’ve had two Golden-crowned sparrows in my yard in late April
and early May. Highland Lake neighborhood near Mead, Weld, CO.
None for probably 10 years or more now. The first was about 20 years ago, the
2nd about 5 years later.

Joey,
Intrigued by your question, I used "Explore -- Species Maps" in eBird

September and found a scattering of records in May over the years: the
Red Rocks bird was present several years in early to mid-May; another in

Hey COBirders,
LOL - Yup SIX more Northern Waterthrush were banded at Clear Spring Ranch - one
Saturday, and 5 Sunday. That makes 13 for the season. Unbelievable.
It was a perfect morning for bird movement - high fog, Southeast breeze, cool
temp, and the banding reflected that. 24 birds were

Hello Fellow Birders,
The flock of ~ 15 Red Crossbills I first reported in mid-March is still
hanging around my little townhouse yard in west Centennial, near Holly &
Arapahoe. Sometimes we see one or two, sometimes the whole gang.
More recent visitors include a Chipping Sparrow who's
The adult female Black-throated gray warbler reported yesterday by Andy Bankert
and Caroline Olson is still present this morning in the same area at Wellington

On Spring Bird Count yesterday (5/12) for the Foothills Audubon group, my
count partner and I found an Eastern Phoebe just west of Niwo on N 79th,
south of County Rd 30. There is a small grove of trees that remains fairly
untouched and the Phoebe was in there.
Someone told me that there is a
