Daniel,
I have a picture of a juvenile red-headed woodpecker that I saw at Fountain
Creek Nature Center in about 2010. I have also seen them in the banding
area at Chico ranch where many other folks have seen them.

Does anyone know the current road conditions at Chico? We plan to go out
Sunday to do some birding but I don't know if the heavy rains we have
recently had (1.75 inches in Colorado Springs in the last 2 days) are a
problem wrt ranch roads.

and there was no evidence of this blood (?) at that time. I cannot tell

The pictures off this bird on ebird are great! Was it near the entrance to
the ranch like the ibis last year?

I have debated about this bird for a week. I saw it in an open prairie region
east of Big Johnson reservoir in Colorado Springs. Please send me your opinion.

I saw these loons at Big Johnson Reservoir today and I think they are Pacific
loons.
Thanks in advance for any comments clarifying whether they are Pacific or
common loons
