earlier I had a Field Sparrow visit the food I put on the ground. I got a very
good look with the bird almost filling my scope. It was with Chipping Sparrows
for a good comaprison of bills. About 15 min later two Wild Turkeys moved in
and spent a lot of time cleaning up all the food

The Field Sparrow at my feeding area returned after the Turkeys had departed.
It was feeding in close proximity to Clay-colored and Chipping Sparrows for
great comparisons. Bill and eyering clearly visible.

The Townsend's Solitaires and Steller's Jays arrived on their winter grounds in
the pygmy forest sw of FLorence CO just after the last front. The Juniper
Berry count is moderate to good here so it should be a good winter

I checked a nest box today that I had not looked into since 4/15 when it was
absolutely bare (used by Juniper Titmouse in '06 and '07, not used in '08).
