Confirmed the Little Blue Heron at Rogers Grove Park in Longmont about an
hour ago. No sign of the Green Heron. Be aware that the park seems to be
getting set up for a race through there, scheduled for Sunday. If you want
to see this bird, today would be your best bet.

Thanks for the location. I was able to relocate the Lewis's Woodpecker quite
quickly this morning in the tree in the back of the parking lot.

Along with all of the Canada and Cackling Geese at Siena Reservoir in
Broomfield, there were three male Common Goldenyes, a M/F pair of
Ring-necked Ducks, a bunch of American Coot - and one Sandhill Crane. I
managed to snap off a few shots in the dim morning light as it flew off
towards the
and
DCC nests. There was a nice fly over of 9 White-faced Ibis and a Wilson's
Snipe ran into the vegetation along the creek east of the wetlands.

Along CR-21 in North Park, I ran across Sage Thrashers, Vesper Sparrows,
Horned Larks and one Burrowing Owl. There were many, many ducks at Arapaho
NWR including Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, American
Wigeon, Lesser Scaup and Bufflehead.

Thanks to all who posted the Arctic Tern sightings at Boulder Res. It
was still there late this afternoon. I got a really good look at it
in the afternoon light and got to enjoy some aerial acrobatics as it
fished.

Stopped by the Boulder Res this afternoon (NW corner). No Hudsonian,
but I did see 2 Marbled Godwits, 3 Semipalmated Plovers and 3 Western
Sandpipers. More long-distance, low-light shots on my Flickr page.

After birding Boulder this morning, I headed down to Cherry Creek for
the afternoon. In addition to the usual suspects, there were a couple
of Willets and what appears to be a hybrid Cinnamon x Blue-Winged
Teal. Photo has been added to my Flickr page.

One of my favorite local birding spots has to be Quail Creek Park
behind the King Soopers at 136th Zuni. While it is surrounded on
three sides by Westminster, the park is in Broomfield. It's a great
place for shorebirds. Last year, we had nesting Killdeer, American
Avocet and Spotted Sandpiper

As of this morning, the Tundra Swan is still at Cottonwood Marsh in

Please feel free to correct any mis-identifications. The gull pictures
aren't the best as a snow squall was moving in yesterday afternoon
when I was at the reservoir.
Happy new year and good birding wishes to all!
