With migration in full swing, but a mid-morning appointment in the way, ran
down to a couple of local hotspots in southwest Denver first thing this
morning (Tues., 3 May'23), Overland and Ruby Hill Parks (Denver Co.).
Found/refound a very nice PALM WARBLER running with some YELLOW-RUMPs (all
Yesterday morning I located a Palm Warbler (Western) at Barr Lake near the boat
launch parking area. It was originally located in the first larger grouping of
willows as one headed down the trail towards the dam. It was foraging with a
group of about a dozen Yellow-rumped Warbler. On the way
Unfortunately I have a sick dog, so my birding outings have been few this
fall, but this evening I did about a mile of the loop at Quincey
Reservoir. Overall not super birdy (though good numbers of ducks), but I
did have a confiding Palm Warbler (western). It looks like this is a bit

the culvert where Cove Rd passes over the creek. This is off Swan Mtn Rd

Running Deer Natural Area on Prospect Road this afternoon. It was hanging

Hello!
This morning at South Platte Reservoir, Lindsay Purifoy and I had a Palm
Warbler near the small parking lot on the SW corner. It was
skulking mainly in Rabbitbrush, dried thistle and a very small juniper
nearby. Lots of birders were out and others got to see it as well and get
pics.
Surprised to get out of the vechile at Sailboard Launching Area at Pueblo
Reservoir this afternoon, and hearing a pretty loud warbler chip, from
nearby cottonwood tree. Saw it and it was a Palm Warbler. Margie Joy and
saw it again an hour later, in some sunflowers, feeding near some juncos,
Palm warbler currently being viewed just south of Space Sciences building in
pines in the parking lot. Has continued in the general area for last 60-75
mins.

same place between 4-5pm this afternoon. Shortly after we first saw it,
right below where the large trash can liner was stuck in the chain link
fence along Highway 58, the bag became unstuck. So...other landmarks in

I saw the palm warbler this evening. A beautiful male, wagging his tail and
catching bugs in trees and close to edge of small pond. He was on the north end
of the area, through the gate and around the tiny pond on the left. The pond
is the first one you’ll come to and only about 15-20 feet
About 15 minutes after Elaine, Walter and a bird photographer left the stakeout
location on Cache la Poudre Drive east of Laporte off Taft, the Palm Warbler
chipped from the fallow field well west of the houses and flew up into a large
cottonwood just 20 feet south of the olives where Georgia
About 30 minutes ago, I saw a Palm Warbler at the corner of Willow Lake Dr.
and Castlewood Canyon Rd.
As I exited the park, I first noticed a Mountain Bluebird. I slowed down

in Denver, First Creek at DEN Open Space. At around 3pm 1.2 miles north on

1.2 miles in on Buckley Rd, in Cottonwood after the pines.

The Western Palm Warbler that has been hanging around Colorado College
campus the past few days was seen several times today (12/15), as early as
8:40 and as late as 5. The bird has been hanging around in the shrubs on
the south side of Barnes Science Hall and the east side of Palmer
A western Palm Warbler is still present at Belmar Park, Lakewood as of
1030, Mon., 10/8. It was seen in pines between Kountze Lake and the
smaller pond to the west. A small flock (15-20) Yellow-rumps (both
races) is also in the area.

Not near as birdy this morning as yesterday in Belmar Historic Park in
Lakewood. Micheal Kiessig, Rob Raker, and I started out finding our
first small mixed flock of birds along the Horse Trail near the
footbridge. The flock consisted of Yellow-rumped Warblers (both

At Crow Valley flocks of Yellow-rumps were feasting in the russian olives. I

There was a palm warbler at the banding station at Chico Basin Ranch this
morning. It was on the ground in the wet area behind the barn. Many of the
