Lots of blue-grey gnatcatchers and Virginias warblers at red rocks this
morning. We also had nice looks at a lazuli and a blue bunting, bullocks
Orioles, and black headed grosbeaks. The chats were being noisy, too!

This morning, I went to Red Rocks and saw the Fox Sparrow(slate-colored) and
Peregrine Falcon reported by Mike Henwood yesterday. The Peregrine Falcons
look like they're going to next again on Ship Rock. I saw several groups of
White-throated Swifts but struck out on the Golden-crowned Sparrow

I was at Red Rocks putting out seed this AM at -12 degrees. Almost
pleasant. Janel also showed up with seed.
No Rosy-Finches except a gentleman who was there before me said he had 1
Black before I got there.
A Northern Shrike did show up and scattered everyone.

arrived this morning in the freezing temps and noticed Gwen Moore had placed

This afternoon, I went up to Red Rocks and spread millet under the feeders
after the cold night with light snow. As soon as I spread out the seed the
birds came out immediately. The Golden-crowned Sparrow showed along with a
Tree Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, several Song Sparrows, lots of J
Birders,
This morning I went to Red Rocks to try for the Fox Sparrow again. This
time I had success. I got there at 8 am and the sparrow made his first
appearance at 8:05. He showed up again a few minutes later and then put in
a cameo when Dick Schottler arrived.
No Golden-crowned Sparrow.

Tammy and I went to Red Rocks for the very brief sunrise today and had a FOS
Lincoln Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow and WC Sparrow.
The Peregrine's were copulating at the top of the rocks.

Yesterday, I went over to Red Rocks for 20 minutes and had the Slate-colored
Fox Sparrow underneath the small platform feeder. I did not have time to look
for anything else, but I did see the Peregrine Falcon fly over and back to Ship
Rock.

Today, I decided to brave the elements and take some seed to the feeders. I
topped off the niger feeder that has survived so far and threw down some black
oil sunflower seed and millet. Birds seen were 3 Gray-crowned Rosy Finches,
Golden-crowned Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Mountain Chicka
The Golden-crowned Sparrow showed up (surprisingy, to me, not on the ground) on
the platform feeder shortly after I arrived mid-morning.
In hiking up Alameda and part way down the other side I did not find the
Roadrunner.

Mary Cay Burger, her brother John who is visiting from Spokane, and I
visited Red Rocks Park this morning about 9 a.m. I put out some seed and
the flock of 40-50 rosy-finches that were hanging out in the crevices of the
rock wall came in to feed, along with all 5 juncos, one Song Sparrow, one Am

Soon after Mike left this morning, about 60 - 70 Rosy-Finches returned to
the feeders at the Red Rocks Trading Post at about 9:10 am. All 3 species
and Hepburn's were present. Also present was 1 female Cassin's Finch.
Thank you to Mike for continuing to put seed out.

This afternoon I went to Red Rocks hoping the a few of last year's rarities
would show. When I arrived the feeders were empty and all the seed on the
ground was gone. I put down some seed and only a few birds showed. If you go
to Red Rocks bring some seed and let's get some consistency going

Between 7:45 and 8:34 this morning, the Curve-billed Thrasher put in
an appearance. As far as the Zono Sparrows, the 1st year Harris's was
the 1st one on the scene and made 4 different appearances, the White-
throated Sparrow fed for about 5 minutes, and finally the Golden-
crow

Harris's, Golden-crowned and White-throated Sparrows all showed up about 9
am. We didn't see the thrasher but others saw it later.

I went to Red Rocks this morning trying to relocate the Harris's Sparrow found
by Mike Henwood yesterday. In the hour (845a-945a) I was there I did not see
the Harris's or the Curve-billed Thrasher. I did get extended looks at the
Golden-crowned and White-throated Sparrows. On my way to Red R
This morning I headed to a birdy Red Rocks. Once the sun came out things got
active. I had the following birds in one hour of birding below the steps to
the bridge:
Virginia's Warbler-5
Black-throated Gray Warbler
Wilson's Warbler
Orange-crowned Warbler--50+
Yellow-breasted Chat--2
Yellow-rump
Birders
The Golden-crowned Sparrow and Chipping Sparrow are still at the feeders at Red
Rocks Trading Post as of 12:30 today.
