We've had two to five male Western Tanagers at our suet feeder in south
Boulder for the past couple of weeks - only one at the feeder at a time,
with the others waiting impatiently nearby for their turns.
Happy Spring to all,

*Western tanagers* have been present in my Roxborough Park backyard for the
12th straight day. There are at least two male and two female adults with
distinctive markings, so I don't think we are getting turnover. Several
juvenile WETAs are hanging around too, and none appears to be begging
I saw a female at my neighbor's feeder yesterday!

For the second morning in a row, we've had Western tanagers refueling at our
suet feeders. Saw one male yesterday, which stayed only about 15 minutes, and
one male and female today. The last of the spring migration left here on May

You
CObirders,
I, too, have had a small flock of seven male and female Western tanagers
visiting my suet feeders during this wet, cool weather! I can identify
both individual male and female tanagers. They are feeding continuously
all day long.
Along with my usual feeder birds, the tanagers have

Yesterday I saw about 2 dozen migrating Western Tanagers along the Arkansas
River as it runs through Canon City. I got a couple of photos of one who

What a treat this morning to 1) wake up to sunshine and 2)sit in the Vic's
drivethru on Table Mesa Dr. and watch a flock of Western Tanager's in the
ditch, bushes and trees!! They were really busy this morning :) The staff
at Vic's now thinks I am certifiably insane :)
Also, we have had an
Woke up this morning expecting a null yard today since my Green-tailed Towhee

The first thing I saw was the bright colors of a male Western Tanager ( new
yard bird) . After observing while making breakfast I counted

Since late yesterday afternoon I've had a pair of Western Tanagers coming to my
suet feeder. What fun! But, the hummingbirds have been slow to show up.

Besides the cool birds I found in my yard, there were a lot of nice birds on
the Canon City Riverwalk yesterday too. Western Tanagers are in and Gray
Catbirds are back (usually resident but I didn't see any this winter). I
saw several MacGillivray's Warblers plus several Wilson's Warblers. I
