I wanted to share a couple of my recent observations. CCSP one of the few
bodies of water with low water lately. There is alot exposed shoreline &
mud. I did sink up to my knee boots in the mud so be prepared.

We are seeing 7 White-faced Ibis, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 9 American Avocet, 1
Caspian Tern & a Curlew I haven’t seen since on Ebird Slerts.

Today Joey Negreann & I observed 46 Willet, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 2
Whimbrel On the swim beach. Later in the day, besides all the other birds,
Joey found the Red-necked Grebe.

To complete a very nice afternoon of birding at Cherry Creek, found 2
Yellow-Rumped Warblers between the Mountain Loop and Lake Loop. Also a
few Swallows briefly glimpsed ( I'm just not good at swallows on the
wing) A flicker carefully inspecting a nest hole. Definitely Spring

At around 5PM at the marina at the west end of Cherry Creek SP last night
the young Glaucous Gull first reported by Gene Rutherford continued, along
with Herring Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, an adult Lesser Black-Backed Gull,
and a spanking California Gull. Also present, were Mountain Bluebirds, a

Had a decent trip to CCSP today in search of Bald Eagles. Saw a total of 7,
most standing on the edge of the ice in the middle of the lake. One fully
mature and the rest were varying juvenile years. There was a juvenile in a
tree by the east entrance marina. He sure wasn't winning any b

Soaring in unison, not far from 5 Bald Eagles.

Despite serious winds that sounded like I was standing next to a jet, I did see
(Sun. afternoon 1:30):
* a great blue heron at the marina, on a post out in the water
* 2 male hooded mergansers, a couple of common golden eyes, and a dozen
shovelers doing the circle dance
* a beautiful bald eagle o
Today at Cherry Creek State Park, 20 birders were able to see the continuing
juvenile Glaucous and Iceland Gulls (Thanks to Glenn Walbek for first
spotting these great birds), which were hanging out this morning at the bird
observation
"platform" off of the Prairie Loop. We also had 5 Snow Geese
FOS Osprey and Black Crowned Night Heron seen in the park today while
running. The osprey was flying south from the res with a fish, continueing
south out of the park.

Beautiful day in Denver eh?
Failed to find the Ross's Goose reported this morning. I got there after the
races and the water was calm and flat.
Bonaparte's Gull- at least 4
Red Breasted Merganser-4

Common Loon-3 (one still showing some breeding plumage)

Birded cherry creek SP again...my usual locacation...today while watching my
friend in her Duathlon.
*57 species today...highlites for me were:*
-2 clay colored sparrows
-10 Wilson Phalaropes (cottonwood wetlands)
-1 Yellow headed Blackbird (cottonwood wetlands)
-1 Western Wood Peewee
-pair yellow
Cherry Creek State Park this morning:
- 30 sandhill cranes in the very SE corner of the lake
- fly over of 400+ more cranes about 8am
Then there was the mixed bag of birds after that:
- Peregrine Falcon herding an inflight flock of starlings before plucking
one from the flock

To add to the long list already posted by others.
The park was just nuts with birds at sunset.

I birded today south thru the center of the Cottonwood trees that follow
Cherry Creek itself.

Chipping Sparrow
Hermit Thrush
Merlin
Spotted Towee
Western Kingbird
Great Egret (fly over)
Also:
about 40 White-faced Ibis. No glossies noted.
House Wrens everywhere
Unable to locate the Chestnut Collard Larkspur or the American Golden
Plover seen yesterday. I really tried to make all the Killdeer into
the Plover, but just did not work. The pond by the airplane park and
the new wetlands south of the pond were swollen 2-3 times their normal
size.
