.exe and placed it in a root level folder Say

use it. This is for Business verion 4, but looking at the instructions for
version 5 they are the same.

admin had disabled 8.3 file name creation for that NTFS volume for performance
reasons? THAT would explain how you could possibly have a LONG directory name
but NO 8.3 equivalent.
OK, this actually looks like a bug in Windows Server 2008 R2.
I have just done some additional tests and you can check for yourself.
Any one on a Windows Server 2008 R2 go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\" directory
and do a "dir /x" and see what you get for the directory "C:\Program Files
(x86)\MS
