I may be sorry for reviving one of our more acrimonious recent threads, but I thought this might contribute to the discussion: Why RAID 5 Stops Working in 2009, http://blogs.zdnet.com/storage/?p=162 The storage version of Y2k? No, it’s a function of capacity growth and RAID 5’s limitations. If

In the sidebar of the article about RAID was another interesting story: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=2415 The author reports that MS is seeking to pay pundits to write anti-Apple stories. They offered to provide all the research to write from and $15,000. I guess that is easier than fixing

So the first time your new car breaks down, you buy a new one? What about when you just change the oil? Or do you buy a new car then too? You must buy a LOT of computers, even macs if you toss them if they get a kernel panic. Interestingly the article actual reaches the same conclusion as you,

We missed it like global freezing, and that other catastrophe the inventor of the internet keeps droning about. Funny how all these RAID setups just keep humming along in face of the 'facts'. On Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 12:14 PM, Jeff Wright [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I can recall Robert Metcalfe,

When I disconnect the external hard drive USB connection the light goes out on external hard drive and do not feel it spinning. Plugging the USB in turns it on. If I unplug the USB when computer is off and then turn it back on, still get the low power message, UNLESS I disconnect 2 or 3 other

Now I'm really confused - why would the external HD's power supply not be supplying its power?? What, pray tell, does all this mean as far as the low power messages? I think you have demonstrated that your drive's power supply is kaput. So the drive has to pull all its power over the USB. The
