This article seems to be written for my computer. I've got 4 of the

Of course, one _should_ remember to turn off protections before running this.

From today's Infoworld e-letter:
XP SP3 CRIPPLES SOME PCS WITH ENDLESS REBOOTS: Installing Windows XP SP3 sends
some PCs into an endless series of reboots. A Windows blogger has tentatively
identified XP SP3's problem as involving machines using processors from AMD.

Gee, I feel so privileged to be the only one :-) It is amazing (and
scary), how fast Google categorizes this stuff.
After checking the event logs, the first entry after the successful
installation of SP3 log is:

Hard to say, but it wouldn't hurt to re-apply them just the same. I have
had drivers go bad on me. Check the event log and see if anything shows up
in there that might help.
Funny note...I googled the full STOP error you put in below, and the *only*
hit I got was your original email off the mail
What's the best (easiest), way to check all of the drivers? Or do I have
to go through them one by one and try to update each one individually?
When I went to Compaq's website for my model, I didn't see anything
which indicated that new drivers were available:

Most likely it's a driver issue:

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed from your computer's mfr.

Stop: 0x007E (0xc005, 0xBAAD8756, 0xBACC3430, 0xBACC312c)
I did some of the MS SP3 installation tips without success (disabling
antivirus and anti-spyware programs). According to the MS website, SP3
should work on this computer.

Is there a version on CD as there was with WinXP SP2?
At the time of SP2, I only had dialup so I ordered the CD. I later
heard that some people who used the downloaded version had problems
that did not occur
I have the following message from M-S Updates:

addresses key feedback from our customers and is a cumulative update
that includes all previously released updates for Windows XP,

MS pulled it back from wide distribution because of a very limited set of
problems, but you can still get it here:

Installed using the stand alone installer, worked fine, no problems. Only
issue I've heard is that it is not a good idea to create a slipstreamed xp
installer with sp 3 on a vista box. Other then that...no issues.
