lilo loads. with command line option of pci=noacpi lets the linux load
but it crawls! slower then a very old 286! kernel
rnel-2.4.19.16mdk-1-1mdk works just fine as did all

It wasn't a cooker issue - it was a typo issue. He had dor [path] in
XftConfig. not dir.
Brings me to a question though - what's the point of XftConfig? To slow down
the system? Without dir specified for the newly installed fonts I can use
them
