if I modify the
GTK1 version of Galaxy, so I think this may be a bug with the GTK2 version.

Windows XP is not an operating system. It is a windowing system that sits atop
an operating system much as KDE or Gnome sit atop Linux
Is the mem=nopentium boot-time setting still required if I want to run Cooker
(or Mandrake 9.1) on an Athlon CPU? With 9.0 the system I was using would freeze
up unless I used this setting.
