Mdk9.2rc2: The chip sound is detected during a fresh install.
After some settings in kmix, the sound works fine.

I have got, the same or equal problem with the Intel audion on ICH4 Mainboard
(MSI) with 9.1RC2, I found out, that by defoult it try to start alsa and oss
driver at

kde sound daemon (artsd) is using your sound card.
you should hear sound in kde applications.
if you run apps through their menu entries, most multimedia apps
should use soundwrapper to disable artds while you use a sound app
(game, sound editor, ...)

These bugs were already fixed in the 2.4.20 kernel, and I assume remain
fixed in 2.4.21, but have not tested that and will not until it is
finally released.
