I realize you are using rpmbuild.
I used the
./configure --with-redhat && make && make install && make install-configure
and it worked fine for me.
maybe you should do this instead.

That was it! I did not understand the syntax. I had it wrong:
MAILDIRPATH=~/Maildir
Should be:
MAILDIRPATH=./Maildir
Now it works!

Well, the error may be being passed from another module. I'm surprised you
are not seeing the error in the log file though. Are you seeing that error
message in your web browser?
Also, you didn't mess with the:
MAILDIRPATH=Maildir
Config in the sqwebmail conf file did you?

because you think they are correct doesn't make them so.
