There are significant changes to the new 3.4 manual. It is using a new
technology called markdown instead of docbook, and the translation
procedures have not been fully worked out yet. Part of that will be to
investigate the feasibility of reusing existing translations. Once the

Ciao,
I would like to finish the Italian translation of the html manual.
When the new one will be available for the translation, will you use the
already translated strings, or it will be a completely new work?
Thanks,
Maurizio

Looks fine. You can rename the nl.mo file into darktable.mo and copy it in your
/usr/local/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES (or wherever the localization is stored
on your system) and be the first one having a dutch interface ;)

Ok, Thanks Martin & Hubert.
I downloaded the git to my computer and installed Poedit. I found the
nl.po and opened it in Poedit. I see 2 columns and can edit the
strings. I'll start translating. Where do I send the file? To this
mailing list?

Pascal Obry recently added "darktable.pot" file which simplifies
translation for translators without coding/building darktable experience...

Thanks. I can translate some strings, that isn't a problem. But the
TRANSLATORS.md is quite daunting. Step 1 is clear but I'm no programmer
and I've never built a program. Step 2 is a big unknown for me ;-)
But I'll try it.

You‘d better rely on the release notes -
https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/releases/tag/release-3.4.0
to be activated in a release the translation needs to have a decent coverage -
3.4 got a couple of tooltips so theres a lot of new stuff to be translated.
