are a no-go.
but that's secondary. First we need a prototype to test if it's usefull
"for real" and that's ok if we have a clumsy UI for that

For the second issue, I would suggest opening a click and/or keypress
to open a second window. Where the user would be able to select which
channels (s)he wants to see (maybe all of them in a rectangular array

blendif() is pretty powerful, but at least to the uninitiated a bit
difficult to use as it requires to visualize the image decomposed to
it's channels to see where which ones to use and where to put the
sliders. One can work around with the colour picker of course but it
