Auto-replies will not work for me. The 'auto_replies' table is there. I
have one account that I have added an auto reply for. In the logs I see
this:

We also use IMAP to serve mail to to clients via a browser using
Squirrelmail, however the IMAP port is not open to the rest of the
world, only the internal network between servers.
We currently only have around 500 user

You can use your dbmail aliases table as your local recipient table.
For instance:
In main.cf:
alias_maps = mysql:/etc/postfix/alias.cf
local_recipient_maps = $alias_maps
And you can create an alias.cf file as such:
user = postfix
password = PW
dbname = dbmail
table = aliases
select_
We use Squirrelmail and have no complaints. We've been using it with
dbmail for a bit over a year now.

It can sometimes be a bit slow, but overall the experience has been
very good.

many clients, only about 300 email clients...what type of load should be
expected from that type of base?

Yeah, I am using that patch that Ryan supplied. Without it all my
clients were getting multiple copies of each email.
The server really is not that busy. There are about 300 total email
addresses handled by the machine with only about 75 or so using POP to
actually check for mail. The rest forward
(Download latest cvs code, and don't use Ryan's patch with this.)
