I'm willing to admin the list, and I'm familiar with managing Google Groups.
I'll respond to Jeff & Mark off-list.

I think it's just a copy editing error. I agree the performance was on Sunday.
First:
- it is a 4-day fête
- it opened Friday evening, making it Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon
It is clear the article was meant to be published on Sunday:
- it reads "opened on Friday evening… and will close tomorrow night" (Mon.)

Note that Thee Club was not in Santa Monica—it was on Santa Monica Blvd in Los
Angeles (actually in an unincorporated part of the county which is now West
Hollywood).
They must have been one of the first bands to play there: here's a reference to
the club a few weeks later, which mentions it is
IMDB calls it season 1, episode 11. (Totally conjecture, since I haven't seen
the DVD, but I wonder if IMDB is wrong and are referring to the 11th episode on
the best of DVD.)
TV.com calls it season 1, episode 23, but shows the same original air date:

JGB 11/10/91 was definitely at the new (now hole-in-the-ground) coliseum. Once
they built the new one, they stopped doing shows at the old one and it closed
for a while. When it reopened they called it "Independence Arena" to avoid
confusion.
I was at the show, but to back me up I also found th

I was about to say that I thought it was Pigpen after all... Now I'm not quite
sure, but there still are some interesting things here.
What evidence do we have that it's not Pigpen? Just that Jerry sings Lovelight?
There could be other reasons for that (Pig's mic isn't set up yet, or he

Is the recording downloadable/streamable somewhere?
This seems different than the one you're talking about:

I don't know about band video, but in later years (particularly after Touch of
Grey) local television stations would tape the opening songs, often set up at
the soundboard. They were only allowed to be set up for the first two songs,
after which they'd go home to make that night's newscast.

I'd agree.
You can then hear Garcia say in response off-mic, "Yeah, cut the gabbing,"
which gets a laugh, and they launch into El Paso.

Since Brent never got off the stage to let them play, it is reflected in the

if we figure that one out, deadlists will forever be remembered in net lore.
I heard back from Mark Kraitchman (don't know if he meant to cc the list
or not), but we're discussing a couple of ways of solving the spam
problem. We'll update the list soon.

the 10/12/84 Reprise was the completion from the previous night, since
they did the main part then but didn't get back to the reprise. both
shows were in Augusta, Maine.
